What am I liking about the book so far?
I really like this book because it is interesting and it is fun to read. I like how it seems like he’s not going to make it and then he goes and finds refuge on God’s thumb a big rock thing. It is also gross how they have to eat all those onions but I guess it was food and they didn’t have anything to eat at the time. I didn’t like it though how there was lizards and snakes in the book those are gross. What I like about it the most is that it ends with a happy ending. I think that this is an easy book to read and it is very interesting. I would recommend it to anyone that would like to read an easy book just for fun. That is what I am liking about this book so far.

What I learned?
What I learned from reading the book Holes is that when something happens to you it may seem like the worst thing could happen to you, but in the end it may turn out good like in Stanley’s case. Stanley Yelnats the main character got sent to Camp Green Lake, because he was caught supposedly stealing these famous shoes which he didn’t steal. Stanley thought that going to this camp where they dig holes everyday was the worst thing that could happen to him but, he didn’t know that he was going to end up super rich by going to this camp and that he was going to get some friends to. That is what I learned from reading this book

Book report Response#2
What choices has the main character had to make?
The main character has had to make the choice of whether or not she should go into town and possibly get caught by the army, or stay in her cave and probably die of starvation. Sarah went into town anyway and didn’t get caught because there were no army people there. So she went into town and got herself some more supplies and food. I agree with her choice to leave her cave and go get some supplies, without them she would have probably died. Another choice she had to make was whether or not to go to this meeting with this guy. So the day after she went into town to get her stuff, she went to this meeting with this guy she bought her stuff from. While she was leaving this meeting, someone took her and put her in jail to keep her safe from the bad people coming after her that thought she was a witch. The guy that brought her to the meeting came and got her and they went to another meeting and she told them she was not a witch. They thought Sarah was a witch, because since she went to that town they had been having a drought. In the end though it rained and they didn’t kill her or drag her out of town. I probably wouldn’t have made the same choice as her, because she didn’t really know what the meeting was about in the first place, and she really didn’t know the guy she was going with to. So if I was her I wouldn’t have really trusted him and I wouldn’t have gone.

Have I learned anything so far?
I have learned that when something happens to you, you shouldn’t run from it sometimes. In Sarah’s position she ran because the army was going to put her in jail even though she didn’t do anything wrong. They were going to put her in jail because they thought she started a fire and burned down a lot of buildings. Sarah also ran because she was scared of going to jail and dying and just going to jail. I have also learned that you should trust and know someone before you go anywhere with them, like Sarah did with the guy she went to the meeting with. If she knew him better she probably would have not gone because she would have known that the guy’s dad was mean and was probably going to start something like he did. He started the group of mean people that were going to throw Sarah out of town, because they thought she was a witch. That is what I learned in this book.

Character 2
The second character in this book is Julianna Baker. . She has long brown hair. She lives with her mom, dad, two brothers, and a dog. She raises chickens in her back yard that she won the science fair with from one of her teachers. There are six hens. She has had them for two years. They live in a homemade chicken coop, and Julie is the only one that takes care of them. She sells her chicken eggs for money from her neighbors, and gives some to Bryce every week. She gets very good grades in school. She also likes to hang out at the big sycamore tree. She likes to feel the wind go through her hair. Her brothers have a big snake that eats eggs and whole rats. Her brothers also have a band. They play the guitar and drums. They also like to hang out with Bryce’s sister. She also has a retarded uncle that lives in a mental hospital. He is her dad’s brother. He was born retarded because he had his umbilical cord wrapped around his neck at birth. Both of her parents work to support her uncle. She lives across the street from the Loski’s. That is everything about Julianna Baker.
Character 1
The first character in this book is Bryce Loski. He has blue eyes, and blond hair. He lives with his mom, dad, and sister. He doesn’t get along with his sister though. They don’t get along, because she is kind of mean to him, and she has a bad temper, so he makes her mad a lot even if he doesn’t try to. His grandpa Chet also comes to live with his family in the fifth grade. He also doesn’t get along with his grandpa either, because ever since he came to live with them all he does is sit in his arm chair and stare out the window all day long. He doesn’t talk to anyone. He also made Bryce mad one time when Juli started to fix up her yard, his grandpa went over to help her, and never does anything with Bryce. He also has a best friend named Garrett. Bryce moves to town as a second grader, and through out the book he becomes a fifth, sixth, seventh, and eighth grader. In school he isn’t very good in spelling, but Juli helps him by whispering words in his ear. He also went out for the science fair and lost. He lives across the street from the Bakers. Ever since he has lived across the street from the Bakers he knew that she liked him, but he doesn’t like her because he thinks she is annoying. That’s everything about Bryce Loski.
Conflict
There are two conflicts in this book. One is Julianna likes Bryce, but he doesn’t like her, and isn’t very nice to her. From the moment they supposedly held hands Juli has liked Bryce. She has been following him around and smelling his hair. He tries to stay away from her but she just keeps following him. She gets really mad at him and starts to see the kind of person he is when she finds out about her eggs being thrown away. After this she starts to see that he is mean and he talks about her behind her back. During the eighth grade Juli stops liking Bryce because he does some mean stuff and she just stops liking him. Also, during the eighth grade Bryce starts to like Juli because he saw a picture of Juli and couldn’t stop thinking about her so he started to like her. Then when they were eating with their basket boys or the people that bought them Bryce tried to kiss Juli in front of everything and everyone. This confuses Juli and she starts to hide from Bryce when he wants to talk to her and apologize and tell her he likes her. He also wanted to tell her that he is sorry about throwing away her eggs and making fun of her uncle.
The other conflict in this book is Bryce wants Juli to leave him alone, but she won’t. She just keeps bugging him and following him everywhere. He didn’t like it so he asked out Shelly Stalls. When that didn’t work and Juli got rid of her Bryce decided to be nice to her and see if she would go away. When that happened she started to follow him around more. Then he made her mad when she found out about the eggs and he felt bad about throwing the eggs away, but he was also happy that she was leaving him alone. He also made her mad by telling her her house was a mess. He felt bad and tried to apologize to her, but she was ignoring him, so he couldn’t apologize to her. He then saw a picture of her in the newspaper and started to like her. Then the conflict is that Bryce likes Juli but she doesn’t like Bryce anymore. That is how the story ends.
